Blount Lumber Company historic marker dedication June 30, DeMott Street, Lacona.

Blount Lumber Company was one of the oldest companies in this part of the state. The company started by George Blount in 1894, employed people from around northern Oswego County before it closed after 98 years in business.

My volunteers (Phyllis, Irene and Jim) and I work out of the SC Town Hall which was the Blount Parker Employee Recreation Center (BPE) built by Blount for the employees.

When I became historian, we had no historic markers.

Today we have 4 including this Pomeroy Foundation Historic Marker.
